Series Title: The 4 R's of Transformation
Sermon Title: Relating as Transformed People
Text: 1 John 4:7-12

Transformation is the inward change that we experience when we become more like Jesus. It is a process that is ongoing throughout our lives. Our vision statement at SCF is to “Encounter God’s Transforming Love.” How do we do that? (Four R’s) Respond - Restore - Release - Relate. Over the next 4 weeks we are going to review the 4R’s just as a reminder of what we have committed to do as a church, but we will be doing so as part of the ongoing process of transformation.

Those steps again are Respond, Restore, and Release which are somewhat sequential; and now we add Relate which encompasses everything. The Bible sets a high value on relationship with God and others. Biblical love transcends feelings. Biblical love is about covenant faithfulness. It’s more about commitment than a certain kind of feeling. As we think about love and how we relate to one another, we are going to think in terms of several different analogies of what the relationship should look like. It's more about finding your place in the plan and purpose of God, than finding someone who makes you happy.
