Good Morning Spring City Fellowship!
Title: Visions of God's Intervention
Text: Zechariah 1:1-2:13
Today we begin a new sermon series in the OT book of Zechariah called "visions of Hope." Zechariah was a priest who returned from exile to help rebuild the temple in Jerusalem. Zechariah’s visions gave the people hope that God’s ultimate purpose is to restore. His vision was not just about the second temple and the people of his day. His prophecies pointed ahead to a time when God’s Spirit would indwell His people. When the people of God would become the temple of God.
The temple needs to be rebuilt, but the physical temple is only a symbol - a representation of something much bigger that God is doing in the spiritual temple, which is His people. Zechariah begins by assuring that God is able and willing to intervene. Just because he doesn’t act right away, doesn’t mean he doesn’t care. God sees far more than we can at any given moment. He sees not just the present, but the future and the distant future. If you could see what God sees, you would have reason for hope.
